1948 – 50 Gillette Aristocrat Set w Blade Dispenser

1948 – 50 Gillette Aristocrat Set w Blade Dispenser More Pictures

This great item is in overall Very Good Condition. There is a small amount of plate loss to the razor as can be seen in the photos. The TTO knob works as well as the day it left the factory, the doors open smoothly and close tightly. This timeless razor comes in a brown leather covered box with maroon velvet interior.

The case is 3 1/2 inches by 3 inches and the razor is 3 1/4 inches long. The gold piping looks Very Good with NO discoloration or severe scratches. The outside of the case has Small Amounts of vintage wear, which can be seen in the pictures, the case is in Good Condition, the hinges still work perfectly closing the lid with a snap. On the back of the case as you can see is a Very Small Area where the leather has been torn, which in my opinion can be repaired.

The case is in overall Good Vintage condition. The inside of the case is covered with maroon velvet, the inside top of the case is covered with the original material and the Gillette stamp is in Very Good Condition and can be seen clearly. The fabric inside of the case is in Very Good Plus Condition. Included with this set is a partial dispenser of Gillette Super Blue Blades which is in Very Good Condition.

Some consider this the gold standard of DE shavers. These razors are well built and give wonderful shaves. The size and weight of these razors provide great balance and makes shaving a pleasure. Great care was taken in the cleaning and sanitation of this razor. It is shave ready, just put in your favorite blade. Please be sure to look carefully at all the pictures and also see all the pictures that I have posted on YouTube.

Spanning approximately 70 years, the Aristocrat name plate was the longest running of the Gillette line of DE razors, and in my opinion, was their flagship razor. True, more upscale and pricier sets were made, but only for short periods of time, while the Aristocrat enjoyed fairly steady production until a decade long break from 1951 to 1961. This appears to have been a very popular razor in its time.
