Two Vintage Valet Auto Strop Razors w NOS Blades/MAKE ME AN OFFER I CAN'T REFUSE!

Two Vintage Valet Auto Strop Razors w NOS Blades
RICHARDS RAZORS; MAKE ME AN OFFER I CAN'T REFUSE!

Two Antique Valet Auto Strop razors Made in USA. Both razors measure 3-3/8" long
and 1-3/4" across head. Overall the razors are in good condition, and would make a nice addition to your collection.

The top of flap reads "Valet." Each of the razors is in surprisingly good
condition. The handles unscrew for ease of access to the underside of the razor
for cleaning. There is a release lever for the blade head, once opened there is a
second release tab for the blade holder. Valet filed a lawsuit suit against the
Gillette company on copyright infringement in 1930. Gillette took over Valet Auto
Strop and retired King Camp Gillette, shortly after that Otto Roth, the president
and owner of Valet Auto Strop Razors took over as the head of Gillette Razor Company.

The gold razor, as far as I can ascertain was made in 1912 and the silver one
sometime in the 1920s. Included with these two wonderful vintage razor's is a NOS pack of Auto Strop blades that has never been opened it still has the original
cellophane on it.

CLAUSS BLUE STEEL STRAIGHT RAZOR

CLAUSS BLUE STEEL STRAIGHT RAZOR
try it you might like it

What you're looking at is a Clauss Blue Steel straight razor, made for
the Union Barber Supply Company in Baltimore Maryland.  The scales are in
excellent condition showing no cracks, chips or ware.  As you can see in the
pictures this great collectible was made for the Union Barber's Supply company
in the late 1800s.  The razors' tang has jimps on one side only and are
in very good clean condition.  The blade is 3" in length and 4/8" wide the
entire length including the handle is 9 1/2".  The blade itself shines as if
new with one very small blemish close to the end of one side of the blade,
pouring which I believe can be buffed out.  Other than that the razor is in excellent condition.  Also included is the box that came in, the writing is still
legible even though the box is some vintage ware.

History:
Clauss Shear, founded in 1877 by John and Henrie Clauss, of German origin,
in Elyria, Ohio, moved the company to Fremont ten years later. Schaaf,
perhaps the owner of Schaaf's Good Cutlery, and Harry Zimmerman bought out
the interests of their three Henkel Company partners, Dr. George Zimmerman,
August Henkel, and Frank Kiser. The five men had founded Henkel in 1906. In
1919, Henkel Company merged with Clauss Shear to become the largest cutlery
company in the world.

In 1954 the corporate name was changed to Clauss Cutlery Company to
eliminate the confusion with the German cutlery firm J.A. Henckels.
In 1967 Clauss was taken over by Alco Standard Corporation.
In May 2004, Acme United Corporation acquired the Clauss inventory,
trademarks and brand names for approximately $500,000.
